"Where is God when you need HIM?" - Open
In the year 1790 the first US Censes was conducted. The
Decoration of Independent and the Revolutionary War
was behind our young nation, the U.S. Constitution the law of the land, the U.S.
currency and banking system
was established. The 3rd US Congress, while still meeting in Philadelphia,
called for the first U.S. Censes. The year 1790.
One interesting number from that First Censes stands out like
BOLD PRINT. With 13 British colonies, now States United,
from the tip on Maine, to the bottom of Georgia, there were recorded only
24 Cities &Towns, less than 2 per State.
Virginia had 4. Alexandria, Richmond, Petersburg, and Norfolk. Some states had none.
READ LIST: Boston, New Haven CT, Providence RI, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Charleston S.C, Two towns later merged with Phil. (21)
I challenge you today to travel to any one of these early
established cities today and observe the skyline. Historical landmarks
hidden between modern skyscrapers, overpasses and underpasses. NYC-WTC
church st. Then drive thru downtown Petersburg.
Petersburg's skyline today still displays the many church
steeples, some now gone, yet as many if not more new steeples.
With the new Fort Lee expansion, new Hotels, Hospital, as we here at Trinity in
historic downtown Petersburg, I ask myself
the question. Where is God in Petersburg? God in THIS PLACE?
Trinity 11:00 am - 11:00 PM
Today our entire nation is in a crisis. Housing, Banking,
Unemployment, Healthcare, at Trinity we worship, invite, feed, concerts,
postcards, letters, advertise on TV, newspapers.
Where is God when you need HIM? Place / Time Trinity 11am - 11pm
I am not the first, not the only one, to ask this
question. Perhaps each person here today, in a crisis, ask
Where is God when you need HIM?
Scripture Reading
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
